Advocacy
The goal of the local PTA advocacy committee chair is to inform the membership about education issues and North Carolina PTA legislative goals. This position is included as part of the board of directors and thus requires attendance at our monthly meetings.
Beautification
Serves to maintain and enhance the outdoor school campus through organized clean up and beautification volunteer days, individual landscape projects, and maintenance enhancement efforts.
Corporate & Community Partners
Coordinate with local grocers on their educational giving and communicate to school community how to participate (Harris Teeter VIC cards,etc). Work with VP Communications to market and promote these programs. Schedule dining out nights with local restaurants and solici local businesses for one time donations as need arises. Most work involves phone calls and follow up. This job can be done from home. Time commitment is estimated at one hour per month. Coordinate food and beverages for school events
Food Pantry
Works with Administration and students to keep the food pantry running smoothly
Homecoming/Sadie Hawkins' Dance
This committee will help coordinate and work with the school administration to provide support for the Homecoming and Sadie Hawkins Dances.
Membership
The membership committee collects the annual fee and membership form from parents, teachers, and students who choose to join the SMHS PTSA. The committee reconciles the fee submitted by the parent, teacher, or student with the data entered into the membership form to identify and correct any errors. The committee also creates a database/list of contact information of the current year's PTSA members to be used by the PTSA as needed.
Parent/Student Engagement
Coordinate a parent social two times per year to help increase parent engagement. This committee will work with student government to help increase student engagement.
School Tours
Coordinates and provides school tours for prospective families.
Senior Showcase
Work with Student Services to update showcases in the mall of our upcoming graduates’ school choices. Set up pleasing and informative display.
Volunteer Coordinator
Creates master list of all volunteers and sets up a sign up genius. Gives each committee their list of volunteers.
